SUICIDE AWARENESS TRAINING
WHAT WE DO
Suicide and self-harm are on the increase in Europe and globally. It is underrepresented in statistics and incurs a massive personal, social, and economic impact. This is not a suicide, harm reduction, or prevention course. This is a Suicide Awareness Training. (This course should be viewed as an addition to approved courses and as such is supplementary learning on the subject of suicide). Specific courses can include the ‘Asist’ Suicide Prevention Course and ‘Mental Health First Aid Training’.
It is well recognised that suicides are underrepresented in statistical figures and models. The reasons for this include a coroner’s reluctance to rule a suicide without direct evidence. Cultural and religious reasons can also be a factor in some countries.
Suicide can devastate a family, a community and even affect a country. In many instances people complete suicide without even loved ones and those closest being aware.

"It is estimated that there are currently more than 700 000 suicides per year worldwide."
