From many sources that we have been looking at, there appears to be a rise in the incidences of poor mental health and related issues. There are numerous newspaper articles published, signalling an increase in the number of people suffering from mental health-based problems. What prompted this blog, was visit to France this year, their issues with mental health and suicide were discussed in a news broadcast. Today we are discussing Mental health in the UK, If you are feeling suicidal, please seek professional medical advice or call Samaritans or Lifeline; the telephone numbers are below.

Firstly, no mental health issue is trivial. All are concerning issues impacting the individual and their families. It is wise to seek advice and guidance, if you or someone you know, or love is struggling.
The forthcoming full blog will look briefly at describing neurotic and psychotic issues, personality disorders and learning difficulties. We will try and illuminate what is going on in today’s world. Also, what is being done to tackle the issues more locally (and possibly further afield). It is known there are funding issues regarding mental health locally and nationally. Then there’s other concerns including alcohol and substance misuse, which play a factor. Locally, the legacy of the ‘troubles’ (the Northern Ireland conflict) is likely playing a part.
These form part of the psychological and sociological factors impacting people’s lives. The advancement of technology will be investigated to help shed light on how this is touching people. We will be looking briefly at the legislation and how this is changing. How people differ, and how age, gender and environmental factors all play a part in mental well-being.
We will advise on some of the therapeutic supports that are available to help the individual, and groups (in group therapy). (Please note, there may be long waiting lists for people accessing NHS mental health in the UK services; this is another factor).
Can we ask; are you feeling under stress or pressure? That if you are having difficulty coping with life’s stresses, or if you feel you are wanting to harm yourself or someone else, then please seek professional advice. There is always help for those who need it.
