Some Amazing Bible facts that are true

There was a time when people thought that the earth was flat, and the sun went around the earth. That Atlas the Greek god held the world on his back. Until the invention of the telescope, depending on where you stood on the planet about 4,500 stars only, were visible to the naked eye. Sailors thought if you sailed far enough you would fall off the end of the earth. Did God advise in the Bible of pathogens like fungi, viruses, and bacteria? Did man walk with the dinosaurs’, are they mentioned in the Bible? Lets take a look at some amazing bible facts.

1: The Bible; Book of Isaiah, Ch: 40 V 22 advises the earth is round – “It is He who sits above the circle of the earth” (NASB). Isaiah served from around 740BC, and was the prophet under King Hezekiah. A copy of the great Isaiah Scroll is displayed in Israel’s shrine of the book. It predates Jesus Christ’s ministry on the earth by over 100 years.

Until modern times humans could not prove the earth was round. Yet here the God of the Bible states clearly that it is. (There’s a picture of the earth on the next page).

2: The Book of Job Ch 28 V 5 states: “The earth, from it comes food, And underneath it is turned up as fire” NASB. Some Bible editions advise ‘transformed below as by fire’. Some say the book of Job was penned by Moses, and others disagree. There are Targum’s (original Hebrew language) found for the book of Job, contained in the dead sea scrolls. In any event, it is widely accepted the earth’s core is hot and this is yet another amazing fact from the Bible.

3: The book of Job Ch 26 V 7 highlights yet more truth and another amazing Bible Fact. “He stretches out the north over empty space. And hangs the earth on nothing” In centuries past some believed that it was Atlas (the Greek god) who held up the world. Indeed, the Bible in the book of Job highlights the earth does hang on nothing. This was proven only during the space age exploration when man could look back at the earth from space.

Recent studies are highlighting an emptiness of space above the North pole. (This is being looked at further by me). Possibly more on this in time to come.

4: In Ecclesiastes Ch 1 V 7 the earth’s hydrologic cycles is explained. “All the rivers flow into the sea, Yet the sea is not full. To the place where the rivers flow, there they flow again”. (NASB)

5: The state of water changes from liquid to vapour. This is aptly explained in the book of Amos “He who calls for the waters of the sea And pours them out on the face of the earth. The Lord is His name” NASB.

6 There is geological evidence for a great flood on planet earth as described in the Book of Genesis (Ch: 6). On the mountains of Ararat in Turkey there is a geological feature that the locals have stated is Noah’s ark. (Also, the Turkish Government has designated the area, as the site of Noah’s Ark). This along with a number of anchor stones (drogues) were found in the surrounding area. This lends intrigue to the great flood and Bible account. Studies and models have shown using Biblical dimensions, the Ark would have floated and carried a large number of animals on board.

Indeed, the dimensions of the structure on the mountains of Ararat match those of the Ark depicted in Genesis, and the anchor stones generate increased curiosity. Both the geological feature and the anchor stones are 12,000 feet up a mountain. Many of the anchor stones host crosses carved on them, possibly from the crusader periods. What are these stones doing 12,000 feet up a mountain, one that is cut off for months on end in wintertime? From modern geological surveys, a great many iron items are contained within the structure, could these have been nails and rivets attached to a wooden boat? (It is noted no iron has not been detected outside in the surrounding area).

7: Genesis Ch: 15 V 5. “And he took him (Abram) outside and said, “Now look toward the heavens, and count the stars if you are able to count them” And He said to him “So shall your descendants be”” (NASB). The most stars you can see with the naked eye range from around 2,500 to 4,500 depending where on the planet you are looking from. Abram was renamed by God as Abraham; he’s known as one of Israel’s patriarchs and the father of many nations. God knew the stars in the heavens were to man uncountable. No one can count how many descendants Abraham has.

In Jeremiah Ch 33: V 22 “As the host (stars – NIV) of heaven cannot be counted and the sand of the sea cannot be measured, so I will multiply the descendants of David My servant and the Levites who minister to Me” (NASB).

8: In Matthew Ch: 24 V 35, Jesus states that “Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away”. It is known that celestial bodies like stars will die. It is known that the sun and the earth’s lifespan are finite, though there is much debate about when this might happen. The Bible states the world is approximately 6,000 years-old and was formed in Genesis Chapter 1.

9: The Bible states that the brightness and magnitude of the stars varies. I Cor: 15 V 41 “There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars; for star differs from star in glory”. (NASB).

10: We know the universe, and all things visible are made from atoms and subatomic particles. Again, the Bible pretty much mentions this in the book of Hebrews. Hebrews: 11 V 3 “By faith we understand that that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible” (NASB).

11: From oceanographic cinematography and documentaries, we know there are mountains under the sea. However, the Bible states this fact in the Book of Psalms. While talking about the earth in verse 5. Psalms: 104 V 6 states: “You covered it with the deep as with a garment. The waters were standing above the mountains”.

12: Some people today don’t like to talk about blood. However, it was known in biblical times that life of the person was in the blood. Jesus Christ was the spotless lamb of God. His blood sacrifice atoned for all mankind (Hebrews 10 V 1 – 10). The Bible states in Leviticus: 17 V 11 “For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the alter to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement” (NASB).

13: The Bible teaches in the Book of Leviticus of infectious diseases and isolation from others. This was long before quarantine was known to stop spread of diseases. Leviticus 13 V 1 – 10. Paraphrased: Where the priest would look at a scab on the skin and isolate the person for 7 days. The person would be examined again after another 7 days of isolation and then pronounced clean or unclean. (NASB)

14: The Bible is also clear that you dispose of your bodily waste hygienically. Deuteronomy 23 V 13 “and you shall have a spade among your tools, and it shall be when you sit down outside, you shall dig with it and turn to cover up your excrement”. (NASB).

15: The Bible states of Behemoth, this was a large land animal that ate grass like and ox. Job: 40 V 15 – 18. States, “15: Behold now Behemoth, which I made as well as you; He eats grass like an ox. 16: Behold now, his strength in his loins And his power in the muscles of his belly. 17: He bends his tail like a cedar; The sinews of his thighs are knit together. 18: His bones are tubes of bronze His limbs are like bars of iron”. (NASB).

Some might say this is a hippopotamus or an elephant, however the Book of Job perfectly describes something more like a brontosaurus. How is this possible if they have been extinct for millions of years? A cedar tree from Lebanon was thought to grow from 40 to 100 feet and have a circumference of 5 to 7 feet. Hippo’s and elephants have very small tails.

To end, I will state of another Biblical fact from the book of Daniel, when speaking of the ‘time of the end’. Daniel Ch: 12 V 3 – 4. “3. Those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. 4. But as for you Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book until the end of time; many will go back and forth, and knowledge will increase”.(NASB).

Another Amazing Bible Fact that is true is that knowledge continues to increase.
